Whether its a swanky, sophisticated jazz club or a boozy, bombastic rock joint, one thing is for certain, Russell Hall is bringing the party with him wherever he goes. Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Miami, Florida, Russell has been playing and recording music since the tender age of 13. He furthered his study of music at the most prestigious conservatory in the world, The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Ben Wolfe, Ron Carter and Wynton Marsalis. He is currently a preeminent bassist in New York City where his session and freelance work has allowed him to work in virtually every facet of the New York music scene with artists such as Jon Batiste and Stay Human, Etienne Charles and Creole Soul and Emmet Cohen from the global sensation “Live at Emmet’s Place” . He is no stranger to the helm as seen with his alter ego “Captain Bessie Suave” where he uses the power of music to learn from and educate people on the power of art as a healing and innovative force in the world. Check out his latest album “COLORZ” on all platforms which comments on race, history and culture under the guise of his Pirate Rock Band, Bessie and the Rainbowkids where he’s used songs from the pantheon of the blues, jazz, rock and roll and world musics to explore their meaning and significance to people’s hearts and minds. His next album, “The Wildcard” will be available October 23rd, 2026. It offers the listener a deep delve into the process of a bebop musician through modern recording techniques and classic song forms whilst still giving a quirky yet sophisticated approach to classic jazz.
